BUDGET HEARING – VILLAGE OF NORTHVILLE

Tuesday, April 12, 2022

 

The Village Board conducted a budget hearing on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, commencing at 6:30 PM.

Present:           Sue Eckert, Mayor

John Markiewicz, Trustee

Janet Rudd, Trustee

Sue Sedon, Trustee

                                    Kathleen Terwilliger, Trustee

 

Treasurer: Nathanial Matthews

Recording Secretary: Wendy Reu, Clerk

DPW Superintendent: Dan Reidell

 

Mayor Eckert opened the Budget Hearing at 6:31 p.m.

 

Public Attendance – Norman Richardson, Dan Singer, John Spaeth

 

Mayor Eckert opened the floor to public comments on the Preliminary Budget.

 

Norman Richardson addressed the Board.  He congratulated the newly elected Board members.  He told them to try and give everyone a break and don’t be picky with code enforcement if people are doing work on their houses.

 

No other members of the public present addressed the Board.

 

Mayor Eckert indicated that the Budget before the Board was what was reviewed by them at the Budget Workshop on March 14, 2022.  She stated she would hold the Hearing open through the remainder of the Organizational and Regular meeting in case there were public that came in later.

 

At 7:31 p.m., Mayor Spaeth closed the public access portion of the Budget Hearing on a motion by Trustee Markiewicz, seconded by Trustee Sedon, and carried by voice vote as follows:

AYE:        Trustee Markiewicz, Trustee Rudd, Trustee Sedon, Trustee Terwilliger

NAY:            0

ABSTAIN:   0

                                   

Mayor Eckert proffered the tentative budget, also labeled “Preliminary Budget”.  The following resolution was proposed by Mayor Eckert who urged its adoption.

 

 

        RESOLUTION #1 of 2022

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JUNE 1, 2022 AND ENDING MAY 31, 2023, MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTHVILLE GOVERNMENT, AND ESTABLISHING THE RATES OF COMPENSATION FOR OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES FOR SUCH PERIOD

WHEREAS this board has met at the time and place specified in the notice of public hearing on the preliminary budget and heard all person desiring to be heard thereon;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the preliminary budget as proffered and as hereinafter set forth is hereby adopted and that the several amounts stated in the column titled “Adopted” in Schedules A1, F1, and J1 be and hereby are appropriated for the objects and purposes specified and the salaries and wages stated in Schedule 5 of such budget shall be and are hereby fixed at the amounts shown there, effective June 1, 2022.

 

Motions to pass the budget as proposed in the Tentative Budget was made by Trustee Sedon, seconded by Trustee Markiewicz and passed by roll call vote as follows.

 

AYE:        Trustee Markiewicz, Trustee Rudd, Trustee Sedon, Trustee Terwilliger

NAY:         0

ABSTAIN: 0

 

ADJOURNMENT:     Motion to adjourn was made at 7:34 p.m. by Trustee Markiewicz, seconded by Trustee Sedon, and passed by voice vote, no one dissenting.
